Day Camp
|
Day Camp offers children the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities: Pioneer living, water play, arts and crafts, exploring, environmental education, hiking, boating, outdoor cooking, recreational swimming, singing, dramatics, cooperative group games, and archery.
Day Camp is divided into age-based units to ensure a progression of experiences throughout a child’s years at Day Camp.
Pre-Wee Toddler & Adult Program
For Toddlers ages 2-3 and Parent
Offered Wednesday Mornings in June/July
Discovering Nature Together this summer by bringing your 2-3 year old Pre-WEE. Sing traditional songs, explore your senses through nature activities, create arts and crafts and play, play, play! An adult guardian MUST accompany each child.
Come experience the joys of horseback riding at Horse Camp! Camp St. Croix Daycroix riding programs are progressively structured to provide campers with a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses. Instructors are trained in horsemanship and carefully match the experience level of the child with an appropriate horse. Instruction is provided at the staging area and on the horses.
Safety is our top priority at Horse Camp. For all horse programs, we require that participants wear leather shoes or boots with heels. Long pants and protective helmets (helmets provided by camp) are required of all participants. Our horse camp is a progressive recreational riding program and is not intended to replace formal riding lessons.
Alternative programs may be planned if weather conditions such as extreme heat, rain, or wind jeopardize the safety of campers or horses.
Colts – Introductory level
For campers entering grades 4 – 6 in fall 2010
Buckaroos– Intermediate level
For campers entering grades 5 – 6 in fall 2010
Previous Colts experience preferred.
Important note for Colts and Buckaroos program:
Not all instruction is done on horseback, and most will not ride on Monday. With safety in mind, some campers will need extra time to develop skills on the ground before getting on a horse. The staff determines all riding time, based on the ability of the riders and the current weather situations such as rain and heat. Generally, campers are with the horses for the specified times, four times a week. Please keep this in mind when registering.
Develop a greater passion for the things you love, or try out something new at one of our specialty camps! At each of our specialty camps, day campers spend approximately 2 hours each day in their specialized activity. The remainder of the day is spent enjoying traditional camp activities.
Pricing for Specialty Camps: prices may change for 2010.
Invigorate your summer with one or more of our Sports Camps! Sports Camp is a safe, fun, non-competitive program designed to build teamwork, leadership skills, and self-esteem. Every week, participants will learn about sportsmanship and the joy of athletics through specialty clinics and recreational play.

Part of the fun of camp is showing your family all the exciting things you have been experiencing. On Thursdays at 4:30 p.m., Wee Backpackers, Day Camp and Specialty Camps campers will join their families for a picnic dinner, tour of the camp, and a campfire program. Campers staying for the overnight will not participate in the camper show. Your camper is eligible if he/she is an Eagle, Teen Quest or attending a Specialty Camp for 4th-6th graders and Teen Specialties. Camp St. Croix will provide a BBQ at no cost.
For Colt and Buckaroos campers, Thursday nights bring a chance to showcase all they have learned about horses in a horse show presented to families. The show runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Parents are welcome to join us prior to the horse show for the picnic.
Come and share these experiences with your Daycroix camper!
Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and ends at 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of 4:30 p.m. on Thursday for Family Night.
